New 6.9-Megawatt Hydropower Plant Nears Completion in Uzbekistan
Construction of the YFC-3 small hydropower plant is nearing completion in the Bulakbashi district of the Andijan region in Uzbekistan. The new station – located on the South Fergana Canal – has an installed capacity of 6.9 megawatts. Commissioning works and final technical tests of the equipment are currently underway at the site. Simultaneously, construction crews are completing the landscaping of the surrounding area as the facility is prepared for commercial operation.
Ahead of the launch, Uzbekhydroenergo Chairman of the Board Islam Abdurakhmanov inspected the site. He assessed the readiness of the infrastructure and held working meetings with engineers. During the visit, the executive evaluated the qualifications of the personnel, their proficiency in operating the new hydraulic units, and their adherence to strict industrial safety protocols.
The projected annual output of the facility is approximately 33 million kilowatt-hours. This additional power generation will locally meet the growing demand for electricity in the region and reduce technological losses associated with energy transmission across major power grids.
