A new hydroelectric power station will be built in Kyrgyzstan with the financial support of Azerbaijan
The sixth meeting of the Council of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund, a structure created to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries, was held in Bishkek. The event was attended by official delegations, including representatives of government agencies of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, to discuss the current activities and promising areas of work of the foundation.

The key outcome of the meeting was the approval of financing of an important infrastructure project in the energy sector. The Council approved investments in the construction of a small hydroelectric power station on the Kulun River, located in the Kara-Kulzhinsky district of the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan. The planned capacity of the new HPP will be 5.4 MW, which will contribute to the development of regional energy infrastructure and the use of renewable energy sources.
The total cost of the project for the construction of a hydroelectric power station is estimated at 5.2 million US dollars. According to the decision, the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund will directly finance a significant part of the costs, allocating $ 2.5 million for this purpose. In addition, during the meeting, the parties also agreed and approved a number of amendments to the fund’s internal regulations aimed at improving its operational activities.
