Kyrgyzstan Opens Tender for Kambar-Ata-1 HPP Geological Surveys

Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Energy has announced a tender for engineering and geological surveys for the Kambar-Ata-1 Hydropower Plant project. The notice was posted on the republic’s state procurement portal on February 5, 2026.

The procurement is part of a technical assistance project for the construction of the hydroelectric station. The scope of work involves conducting a comprehensive set of engineering and geological studies at the proposed plant site. The tender will use an unlimited, two-package bidding process, under which technical and financial proposals are considered separately.

A pre–tender meeting and a site inspection for interested organizations are scheduled for February 12, 2026. The deadline for bid submissions is 14:00 local time on February 23, 2026, with all proposals to be submitted exclusively through the state procurement portal. The tender is open to qualified companies that meet the requirements of the bid documentation and the legislation of Kyrgyzstan.

This development follows the recent completion of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the Kambar-Ata-1 project. The environmental coalition Rivers without Boundaries participated in public discussions of the ESIA and submitted an extensive list of comments on various ecological aspects of the project.
