RKFR allocates $1 million for the construction of a small HPP on the Shamshy River
The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RCDF) allocates $ 1 million for the construction of a small hydroelectric power station on the Shamshy River in the Chui region, the press service of the fund reports.
This is one of 16 power facilities that are being built with the assistance of the fund. Some of them have already been put into operation, four HPPs are going to be launched this year. The total planned capacity is 600 million kilowatt-hours annually.
The project is financed by the RKDF as part of the strategy to strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s energy independence and increase capacity to meet the growing demand from the population and business.
The station on the Shamshy River with a capacity of 1.7 MW will annually generate about 10 million kilowatt-hours, which will cover 10 percent of the annual electricity consumption of the Chui district.
“The construction of small hydroelectric power plants is the foundation that allows us to solve the tasks set by President Sadyr Japarov for the development of energy in Kyrgyzstan. RKFR remains a reliable partner and investor in the energy sector. We will continue to implement the tasks and plans set by the Cabinet of Ministers and the country’s leadership,” said Artyom Novikov, Chairman of the RKFR Board.
