The first unit of the Sebzor Dam is promised to be launched in June 2025

Commissioning of the first unit of the Sebzor Dam with a capacity of 3.6 MW will take place in June 2025, this was announced during the working trip of the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma to Roshtkal district of Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.

“The Minister got acquainted with the construction of the Sebzor Dam, talked with engineers and project officials and discussed the progress of the work,” the press center of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

“According to officials, today the construction work at the facility has been completed by 85%, the necessary measures are being taken to put into operation the first power plant unit with a capacity of 3.6 MW in June this year,” the press center reported.

Sebzor Dam is a project of the Government of Tajikistan, implemented with the financial and technical support of the European Union and the Government of Germany through the German Bank, KfW, the United States Agency for International Development, the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the World Bank.

The construction of a Dam on the Shohdara River began in 2015, the project provides for 3 hydroelectric units.

A small Dam “Sebzor”, with a capacity of 11 MW, will be able to provide electricity to tens of thousands of local residents, as well as export electricity to the border areas of Afghanistan.

The construction of the Dam is carried out by the Tajik installation Department “Hydroelectromontazh” (TMU GEM).

Recall, it was first planned to launch the first unit of the Sebzor Dam until 2024, then its launch was scheduled for 2024.
