The family of the ex-deputy has completed the construction of the Kara-Kul hydroelectric power station
The construction of a new small hydroelectric power station on the Kara-Suu River has been completed near the city of Kara-Kul, the facility is being prepared for commissioning. Construction work at the Kara-Kul small HPP began in March 2024. The capacity of the station reaches 18 megawatts, and the total investment in the project amounted to $ 25 million, the Turmush newspaper reports with reference to the municipality of the city of Kara-Kul.
The investment agreement on construction was concluded between the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan and the company LLC “Zhagalmai”. The amount of the project in national currency is 2 billion 125 million soms. This facility has become part of a broader program for the development of small hydropower in the region.
So, in the area of Koshary No. 18, located near the city of Kara-Kul, a small hydroelectric power station “Kainama” with a capacity of 9 megawatts has already been built. This area geographically belongs to the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region. In addition, preparatory work is currently underway on the Kayyndy River for the construction of another small hydroelectric power station, the design capacity of which is estimated at 1.5–2 megawatts.
The company responsible for the implementation of the Kara-Kul HPP project is Zhagalmai HPP LLC, registered in July 2023. Its leader and co-founder is Islanbek Sarseyitov. The second founder is LLC “Zhagalmai”. Zayyrbek Sarseitov, co-founder of Zhagalmai LLC, previously worked in the road construction industry. His son, Islanbek Sarseyitov, who heads the operator of the new HPP, was formerly a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh from the Kyrgyzstan party, and also held the post of First Deputy General Director of Electric Stations OJSC.
