Uzbekistan to Launch $20 Million Small-Scale Hydroelectric Equipment Plant

Uzbekistan is initiating the production of equipment for small and micro-hydroelectric power plants at the Andijon Jinlun New Energy facility in the Andijan district. The project is funded entirely by foreign investment – totaling $20 million – with full operational capacity scheduled for 2027. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently reviewed the construction plans for the enterprise.

Upon reaching full capacity, the plant will produce up to 100 equipment sets for small hydroelectric plants each year, with a total valuation of approximately 70 billion sums. The manufacturing range includes machinery, electrical products, and components for micro-hydroelectric systems. The development of localized generation networks follows a presidential decree from March regarding the expansion of alternative energy sources.

The Andijan region was selected for the facility due to its significant water resources. The consistent flow of the Great Fergana Canal provides a natural foundation for a planned cascade of new hydroelectric objects. Beyond manufacturing, the investor plans to construct micro-hydroelectric plants throughout the region to provide affordable electricity to the population and industrial enterprises.

The launch of the enterprise will create 200 jobs in the district. Although based in Uzbekistan, the facility is primarily focused on foreign markets, with exports planned for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The annual export revenue target for the equipment is $3 million.
