Kambar-Ata-2: seven companies apply for the supply of hydraulic units

At the moment, companies are being selected for the construction of hydroelectric units of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2. This was told to journalists by the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev.

He noted that at the moment work is underway on the construction of the second hydroelectric unit of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 with a capacity of 120 MW. The first one started operating in 2010 and also has a capacity of 120 MW. The second hydroelectric unit is planned to be commissioned in 2025, Ibrayev said.

A tender has already been held for the construction of the second and third hydroelectric units. 17 companies participated in it. So far, seven main ones have been identified, including Kyrgyz, Chinese, Russian and Turkish.

The total capacity of the facility after the installation of three hydroelectric units will reach 360 MW.

However, the power transmission lines of the HPP will not be able to pass about 30 MW: the authorities will probably sell this electricity for mining purposes. There is no equipment at the station yet, it can be delivered only after the installation of the second and third hydraulic units. Taalaibek Ibrayev said: at the moment there is only an oral agreement on cooperation with one of the companies.

For the full commissioning of the hydraulic units of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2, it will be necessary to purchase an additional transformer and an open switchgear (with a capacity of 500 kV).
