Ministry of Energy: construction of Karakul HPP is in full swing
Construction works are actively continuing at the Karakul HPP owned by JSC “Chakan HPP”. The hydroelectric power station is located on the Kara-Suu River near the city of Karakul. The planned capacity of the station will be 18 MW. This is reported by the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.
The investor and general contractor of the project is LLC “Zhagalmai”. On June 16, 2023, an investment agreement for the construction of a small hydroelectric power station was signed between Karakulskaya HPP OJSC and Zhagalmai LLC.
The contract for the manufacture and supply of basic equipment (turbine, generator) was concluded with the well-known company GLOBAL Hydro Energy GmbH.
Feasibility study and development of the working project is carried out by NK GROUP LLC. To ensure the construction of inert materials (crushed stone and sand), a crushing and screening facility with a capacity of 400 tons per hour has been organized. In addition, a concrete plant with a capacity of 90 m3/hour has been built.
To date, the following works have been completed:
- The project of on-farm roads has been completed, road works and coastal protection measures have been completed;
- The bypass canal project has been completed;
- Construction and installation works of the head water intake unit have been completed;
- A working design of a pressure water pipeline has been developed;
- The delivery of metal, the installation of formwork, reinforcement and concreting of curved and discharge pipes, as well as a settling tank, have been completed;
- Concreting of the compensator room has been completed;
- The 35 kV “Icy” overhead line, which falls under the HPP building, has been moved.
Current works:
- Manufacture and installation of sections of the pressure pipeline;
- Concreting of the first tier of the HPP building, including the foundation slab up to 718,900.
All construction and installation works are carried out in accordance with the schedule of the investment agreement. The construction is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2026.
