The construction of a HPP in the Chatkal district will begin in the spring of 2025
The construction of four cascades of HPPs in the Chatkal district of the Kyrgyz Republic in the amount of $ 200 million will begin in the spring of 2025. This was told on the radio by the head of the Department for attracting and preparing public-private partnership (PPP) projects, Karatai Dzhangeldiev.
According to the expert, a proposal for the construction of a hydroelectric power station has been received from the Chatkal administration.
“This project will increase the energy potential of the country by 160 MW and increase the investment potential of the region,” he explained.
Dzhangeldiyev added that at this stage the preparatory documents are ready, and capital construction will begin next spring.
Recall, the ecological coalition “Rivers Without Boundaries” opposes the implementation of the Chatkal HPP construction project on the territory of the Besh-Aral State Reserve, a key component of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site Western Tien Shan.
