Two floating solar power plants will be built at Toktogul HPP
During the visit of the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibraev to Germany, an investment agreement was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the companies Sonnenenergie, a.s., AB Progressio GmbH, LTI ReEnergy CleanTech Project Development UG, JSC “SES Toktogul”, JSC “SES Toktogul KG” on the implementation of the project for the construction and operation of two floating solar power plants in the water area of the Toktogul hydroelectric power station reservoir.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the main purpose of the signed document is to attract investments in green energy projects of the Kyrgyz Republic, reduce dependence on electricity imports, strengthen energy security and independence.
As part of the project, it is planned to build a floating solar power plant with a capacity of 612 MW, consisting of two stages. Construction works take up to four years.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG, which is aimed at researching and implementing projects in the energy sector.
