Tajikistan is looking for investors to build a new large Dam

Tajikistan has launched the process of attracting investments for the implementation of a major energy project – the construction of the Shurab Dam. The planned capacity of the hydroelectric power plant will be 1000 megawatts. This was announced at the Dushanbe Invest – 2025 investment forum, the Gidropost newspaper reports. Along with hydropower, the country intends to develop other types of renewable sources, announcing the construction of several solar and wind power plants, the total capacity of which will reach 2,000 megawatts.

The Government of the Republic invites interested companies to participate in these projects, linking the need for their implementation with the growing demand for electricity. This growth is due to the processes of digitalization of the economy and the introduction of new technologies. The authorities of the country intend to continue to actively attract capital to the green energy sector, since the potential of renewable energy sources in Tajikistan remains largely unrealized.

Tajikistan is already actively involved in the development of regional energy infrastructure. Together with Uzbekistan, the design work on the construction of two hydroelectric power stations on the Zarafshan River has been completed. In addition, the trans-regional CASA-1000 high-voltage transmission line project, which will connect the power systems of Central and South Asia, is nearing completion. Construction work on sites in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan has already been completed, and the construction of power lines in Afghanistan is at the final stage.
