Financing of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project will begin next year
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a working meeting with the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev, during which key steps were outlined to develop the hydropower potential of Central Asia. The parties discussed in detail the issues of further strengthening bilateral relations based on the principles of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the fuel and energy complex, which, according to the participants of the meeting, is developing with high dynamics and is already demonstrating significant positive results for the economies of both countries.

At the center of the agenda was the expansion of cooperation in the field of water energy and the promotion of joint regional initiatives. The main news was the statement of the Uzbek leader about the transition to the practical phase of the implementation of one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region. Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed: “For the effective use and joint management of the hydropower potential of the region, next year we will begin financing the construction project of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP jointly with Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.”
During the dialogue, the head of Uzbekistan also noted the importance of international cooperation for the modernization of the industry. He expressed gratitude to Taalaibek Ibrayev, as well as the heads of the leading energy companies of the UAE, Turkey and Azerbaijan for their support in attracting large-scale investments and introducing advanced technologies into the energy sector of the republic. In turn, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan thanked the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and comprehensive support of joint projects, confirming his readiness for further active work on the development of green generation and strengthening regional cooperation.
