Kyrgyzstan Tenders Land for Six Small Hydropower Plants
The Green Energy Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced a tender to allocate land plots for the construction of six small hydropower plants. The projects span two regions of the country – Osh and Issyk-Kul – and the total capacity of these future distributed generation facilities will exceed 27 megawatts. Investors are invited to develop state forest fund territories and municipal lands, converting them for renewable energy purposes.
The largest number of sites is concentrated in the Osh region, where four small hydropower plants are planned. Three of these will be located in the Uzgen district. In the Kara-Shoro forestry area, bidders are offered two plots measuring 2.3 and 2.9 hectares for the Kara-Shoro-1 and Kara-Shoro-2 small hydropower plants, which will have capacities of 500 kilowatts and 6 megawatts respectively. Another small hydropower plant, Zerger, with a capacity of 1.85 megawatts, is planned for the Jazy rural district, with 2.6 hectares allocated for this purpose. The largest asset in the southern region will be built in the Alay district, where the 9-megawatt Alay hydropower plant is scheduled for construction on 25.5 hectares of local forestry land.
In the Issyk-Kul region, two plots in the Jeti-Oguz district are designated for hydropower generation. In the village of Svetlaya Polyana within the Orgochor rural district, nearly 24 hectares are reserved for the 4-megawatt Svetlaya Polyana small hydropower plant. The final lot involves the construction of the 6-megawatt Lipenka hydropower plant in the Ak-Shyirak area, where a territory of 29.5 hectares has been established for the project.
