A capsule was laid in the Osh region for the construction of four new HPPs

A new hydropower project has been launched in the Kara-Sui district of the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev laid a capsule for the construction of four small hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 9 MW.

The new facilities — the Kurshab-1 hydroelectric power station, the Kurshab-2 hydroelectric power station, the Kurshab-3 hydroelectric power station and the Kurshab-4 hydroelectric power station — will be located on the territory of the Yntymak rural district. The project will be implemented by MGM-Group LLC. In parallel, the construction of a distribution substation and a modern concrete production plant began.

“Small hydropower plants are an environmentally friendly and sustainable source of energy. Repair work on the At-Bashinskaya HPP, the second and fourth units of the Toktogul HPP has already been completed, the second unit of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 and the Uch-Kurgan HPP are being modernized. About 50 small HPPs have been commissioned. The construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 with a capacity of 1,860 MW has begun, and relevant agreements have been signed. Thanks to the construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP—1, we will achieve energy independence and be able to export electricity,” Adylbek Kasymaliyev said.

The total cost of construction of small hydropower plants and substations in Kara-Sui district is 870 million soms. The project is fully financed by private investors.
