It is planned to build up to ten small hydroelectric power stations on the Ugam River
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of a trip to Bostanlyk district, got acquainted with the Ugam-1 small hydroelectric power station built on the river of the same name.
The facility uses modern hydraulic units and an automated control system manufactured in Uzbekistan, and local building materials were used during construction. The capacity of a small hydroelectric power station is 1.48 MW.
Annually, the power plant will produce up to 11.8 million kWh of environmentally friendly electricity and replace 4 million cubic meters of gas. It will be able to supply 5 thousand households, as well as tourist and recreational facilities in the Chorbog, Humson and Ugam mahallas.
Now there are two small hydroelectric power stations operating on the Ugam River, each of which brings 200 billion soums of income per year. The opportunity was noted to build a cascade of 10 power plants here, which will improve the local infrastructure and develop the economy.
In total, 25 hydroelectric power plants operate in the Tashkent region, which account for 1,330 MW or 60% of all hydropower capacities in Uzbekistan. Now four more 340 MW power plants are being built at a cost of $880 million, and by 2028 it is planned to launch 28 HPPs for $4.8 billion.
By 2030, it is planned to expand the total hydropower capacity to 6 thousand. MW, for which it is planned to attract private and foreign investments. According to experts, up to 2 thousand small hydroelectric power plants can be built in different regions.
