Tajikistan has agreed with Uzbekistan on the supply of energy from the Rogun Dam
The Government of Tajikistan, by its resolution, instructed to approve and sign a draft Agreement between the Government of the country and the Government of Uzbekistan on the basic principles of cooperation in the field of electric power industry. The draft document, published on the legal information portal of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan, involves the supply of electricity from the Rogun Dam to Uzbekistan, Asia-Plus reports.
The volume and conditions of electricity supply are determined by a separate Contract for the purchase of electricity between JSC “Rogun Dam” and JSC “Uzenergosotish”.
The price of planned electric energy from JSC Rogun Dam is 3.4 US cents per 1 kWh (including VAT paid at zero rate) and is subject to annual indexation in the amount of one percent of the established price for the entire period of the contract.
Indexation is applied from the second year of planned electricity supply.
The Rogun electric power will be supplied to Uzbekistan according to the schedule agreed by the system operators of the two countries, mainly during the hours of planned power shortage in the electric power system of Uzbekistan via interstate transmission lines.
The supply of Rogun electricity to Uzbekistan is carried out in parallel with the supply of electricity from Barki Tojik OJSC.
During the construction of the Rogun Dam, electricity will be supplied during the growing season (from April 1 to September 30 of the calendar year).
After commissioning of the Rogun Dam at full design capacity, electricity supply will be carried out monthly throughout the year.
The Agreement shall enter into force from the date of receipt through diplomatic channels of the last written notification on the implementation by the parties of the internal procedures necessary for its entry into force.
The agreement is designed for 20 years and is extended for subsequent 10-year periods if none of the parties notifies the other party in writing through diplomatic channels of its intention to terminate the agreement 6 months before the end of the next term of the agreement.
Barki Tojik has been supplying electricity to Uzbekistan since 2018 during the growing season.
