The construction of the Orto-Tokoyskaya HPP in Kyrgyzstan has been completed by 65%
The construction of the Orto-Tokoy hydroelectric power station in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan has been completed by 65%. The project, which is being implemented by Chakan HPP OJSC, is proceeding in strict accordance with the approved schedule, which brings closer the launch of the station, scheduled for the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
At the moment, the builders have moved on to one of the key stages: reinforcement and concreting of the derivation tunnel. Earlier, its penetration was successfully completed for the entire length of 928 meters. This tunnel will become the main waterway of the station, through which water from the Orto-Tokoy reservoir will be directed to the turbines. In parallel, high—precision installation work is underway to install and assemble spiral chambers of hydraulic units – units responsible for converting the energy of the water flow into electricity.
A significant amount of preparatory and basic work has already been completed, which has created the foundation for the successful continuation of construction. The town is fully equipped for builders, the necessary infrastructure has been created, including warehouses, mortar-concrete units and power supply systems. Temporary and permanent access roads to all construction site facilities have been laid to ensure logistics and safety. The installation of the most important components of the hydraulic units was also completed and a gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 10 tons was installed, which is used to install the water intake equipment.
The planned capacity of the Orto-Tokoyskaya HPP will be 21 MW. After commissioning, the station will be able to provide electricity to more than 14 thousand subscribers of the city of Balykchy.
