A new small hydroelectric power station was commissioned in Kyrgyzstan for $ 5 million
A small hydroelectric power station “Ananyevo HPP” has been commissioned in Ak-Sui district of Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic. The new energy facility was built with the financial support of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RCDF) and is designed to increase the sustainability of the region’s energy system, as well as provide local residents with a stable source of clean electricity, the fund’s press service says.
The installed capacity of the station is 5.5 MW, which allows it to generate about 27 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. During the construction, a dam was erected and a derivation pipeline with a length of more than 6 kilometers was laid. A high-efficiency Pelton-type turbine has been installed at the HPP, which is capable of operating even at low water levels, which ensures production stability.
The total cost of the project amounted to about $ 5 million, of which $ 3.3 million was invested by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. According to the Chairman of the Board of the Fund Artem Novikov, hydroelectric power plants are the most environmentally friendly type of generation and contribute to solving the problem of energy shortage in the country as soon as possible.
