In Kyrgyzstan, 13 small hydroelectric power plants have been commissioned in two years
Generating capacities in Kyrgyzstan have grown significantly over the past two years due to the commissioning of small and micro hydroelectric power plants. This was stated by the first deputy director of JSC “Chakan HPP” Taalaibek Mambetaliev during a speech on the local radio station, Tazabek reports.

According to the data provided, during 2024, eight hydroelectric power plants were built and launched in different regions of the republic, with a total capacity of 48.8 MW. These included Bala-Saruu HPP in Talas region (25 MW), Ysyk-Ata-1 HPP in Chui region (2 MW), Kok-Art HPP (6.7 MW) and Kainama HPP (9.6 MW) in Jalal-Abad region. Kurak-Tektir-1 HPP in Osh region (600 kW), Arashan HPP in Issyk-Kul region (2.4 MW) and Beles HPP in Batken region (540 kW) were also commissioned.
In 2025, the work on capacity building was continued, and the construction of five more facilities was completed. During this period, Koi-Suu HPP (9 MW) and Boz-Uchuk HPP (5.54 MW) were launched in Issyk-Kul region, Ysyk-Ata-2 HPP (4 MW) in Chui region, as well as Aksy HPP (4.75 MW) and Kara-Kul HPP (18 MW) in Jalal-Abad region.
Summing up, the representative of JSC “Chakan HPP” summarized the results of the work done over a two-year period. “In 2 years, up to 89-90 MW of small HPP capacities have been launched in the republic,” Taalaibek Mambetaliyev stressed.
