The second hydroelectric unit was launched at the Uch-Kurgan HPP after modernization

Major repairs and complete modernization of the second hydroelectric unit have been completed at the Uch-Kurgan HPP. The equipment has been successfully put into operation and is currently steadily generating electricity. The project was implemented as part of a large-scale program for the rehabilitation of hydropower facilities in the country, which is supervised by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

This event was a landmark for the station, since such a large-scale replacement of equipment on the second unit was carried out for the first time since commissioning in 1962. During the reconstruction, specialists completely replaced the main components of the turbine and generator. Automation, cooling systems, oil-pressure installations and control systems have also been updated, which now comply with modern technical standards. The general contractor was the Chinese company CNEEC.

The use of advanced technologies has significantly improved the efficiency of the station. The installed capacity of the second hydroelectric unit has increased from 45 MW to 54 MW.

In parallel, planned measures to improve the reliability of the remaining units of the station are continuing at the Uch-Kurgan HPP. Technical services carry out flaw detection of the stator package and rods of the third hydraulic unit, and also carry out installation of working valves of the downstream. In addition, anti-corrosion work is underway in the oil industry and updating the lighting system with the laying of new cables.
