HPPs of Uzbekistan increased production by 15% despite low water
The joint-stock company “Uzbekhydroenergo” summed up the preliminary results of production activities for the outgoing year 2025. Despite the difficult hydrological conditions and natural limitations, the company managed to achieve high performance indicators. The main result of the year was an increase in generation volumes against the background of the observed water shortage, which confirms the sustainability of the chosen industry management strategy.

According to statistics, in the reporting period, the volume of water resources in the republic decreased by 33 percent. Such a significant decrease in inflow has become a serious challenge for the country’s hydropower industry. However, thanks to the introduction of rational management methods and a responsible approach to the operation of capacities, specialists managed to prevent a decline in production. On the contrary, electricity generation was increased by 15 percent compared to previous figures.
In total, in 2025, Uzbekhydroenergo supplied 6.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the purchasing company Uzenergosotish. Industry representatives note that the country’s hydroelectric power plants continue to operate around the clock, ensuring the stability of the power system. It is emphasized that the emphasis is placed on the maximum return from each cubic meter of water, which makes it possible to maintain reliable energy supply to consumers even in low-water conditions.
