Kambar-Ata-1: the construction of priority infrastructure is underway
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has allocated 4 billion soms for the construction of the priority infrastructure of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 on the Naryn River. This was announced by the director of JSC “Electric Stations” Salavat Sadyrakunov.
According to him, at the first stage, work is underway on a transport tunnel with a length of 1,388 meters, begun in Soviet times, but unfinished.
“Last year, on August 31, we completed the passage of 126 linear meters of the tunnel. Now work is underway to concreting its floor,” he said.
Sadyrakunov noted that in accordance with the plan, a highway is being built from the Bishkek—Osh highway to the Kambar-Ata HPP-1.
“The construction of the road is divided into two stages. The first section with a length of 5.6 km is already ready for 4.9 km. The second section — from slot No. 2 to the gate of the hydroelectric power station — includes concrete works for 2.9 km,” he said.
In addition, a 110/6 kV power transmission line is being built.
“The length of the line is 11.5 km. We have already built 6.9 km and installed 23 metal supports out of 25 planned,” the director said.
Sadyrakunov said that a bridge is being built to transport bulky cargo across the Naryn River. The bridge will be 180 meters long and 8 meters wide.
The director also said that the construction of a shift settlement is underway.
“Today we are engaged in pouring the foundation,” he explained.
According to him, the feasibility study of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 construction project, developed by the Canadian company SNC-Lavalin in 2014, has lost its relevance.
“Now, with the help of the World Bank, which has allocated $ 18.6 million, the feasibility study is being updated. The work is being carried out by the Swiss company Eifri. They are already working on choosing the type of dam,” he said.
According to him, the implementation of priority tasks will allow to start the main construction works at the Kambar-Ata HPP-1.
