The Zarchob-2A hydroelectric power station has been commissioned in Uzbekistan
A small hydroelectric power station “Zarchob-2A” was commissioned at the cascade of the Tupalang reservoir (Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan), the regional khokimiyat reported.
With a design capacity of 3 MW, the power plant will generate 13.3 million kWh of electricity per year. This is enough to supply electricity to six thousand households in the region. The launch of a small HPP will save up to four million cubic meters of natural gas annually.
The total cost of construction of the power plant was $3.4 million. The small hydroelectric power station “Zarchob-1A” was launched in August 2024. Currently, the construction of the Zarchob-3 power plant with a 16 MW hydroelectric unit is continuing at the cascade of the HPP.
The regional khokimiyat said that by the end of 2025, the capacity of all power plants of the Tupalanga cascade of the HPP will reach 300 MW. Over the past eight years, the volume of hydropower production in the region has increased 20-fold.
