Kazakhstan and China have agreed on the production of irrigation equipment

It is planned to launch a new production facility in the Kazakh city of Taraz, which will produce smart technologies designed to manage water resources and irrigation systems. A corresponding agreement was reached between the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan and a consortium of large Chinese enterprises. The parties consolidated their intentions by signing a memorandum of cooperation, which will become the basis for the implementation of a large-scale investment project in the region, the press service of the ministry reports.

The document was signed by the head of the relevant department Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and the director – chief economist of Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co. Ltd Ying Dewen. In addition to this organization, the delegation of foreign investors included the heads of technology companies Leture Technology and Cheng Cheng Group. The involvement of the consortium will allow combining the experience and resources of several major market players to create high-tech production in Kazakhstan.

The future enterprise will focus on the development and serial production of a wide range of digital solutions. The production line will include automated systems that allow monitoring and managing the distribution of water resources, as well as specialized sensors for monitoring the level and quality of water composition. In addition, the plant intends to produce software and hardware systems for dispatching irrigation networks and early warning systems, which are necessary for flood prevention and rapid response to emergency situations.

The implementation of this project involves not only the opening of production lines, but also the full localization of advanced technologies used in China. This will ensure the transfer of knowledge and will contribute to the introduction of modern standards in the water industry of the republic. It is planned that the plant will become a key element of an integrated center operating on the principle of “production – education – science”. On the basis of this cluster, along with the production of equipment, training of specialized specialists and advanced training of existing personnel will be carried out.

An important part of the center’s work will be the adaptation of digital solutions to the specific climatic and hydrological conditions of Kazakhstan. An integrated approach will improve the efficiency of irrigation systems, significantly reduce water losses during transportation and generally strengthen the country’s water security. The introduction of automation is considered as a prerequisite for the modernization of infrastructure.

During the signing of the document, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov commented on the prospects for partnership. According to him, the agency and investors have identified key vectors of interaction.

“We have agreed to work together in several areas. First of all, it is the reconstruction of irrigation systems with the mandatory introduction of automation and digitalization. The second is the training of personnel. Over the past two years, we have established active cooperation with Chinese enterprises. For example, this year 125 water management specialists have completed advanced training courses with China at the expense of Power China,” the head of the ministry said.
