A new cascade of hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 200 MW will appear on the Tar River in Kyrgyzstan

A new major investment project aimed at the development of hydrogenating capacities in the southern regions of the country has been outlined in the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan. On January 23, 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the company “Kyrgyzstan Ricklame Co. LTD.”. The parties agreed to cooperate in the construction of a cascade of small hydroelectric power plants on the Tar River flowing through the territory of the Kara-Kuldzhinsky district of the Osh region.

The official ceremony of document exchange was attended by key representatives of the parties. On behalf of the state department, the memorandum was signed by the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynbek Rysbekov, and on the part of the private partner, the document was certified by the Director General of Kyrgyzstan Ricklame Co. Qiu Chenqi Ltd.

According to the announced parameters, the project involves the construction of a complex of hydraulic structures with a preliminary total capacity of about 200 MW. The scale of the planned works is confirmed by the amount of funding: estimated investments in the creation of energy infrastructure on the Tar River will amount to about 300 million US dollars. The technical implementation of the project will require a complex of survey and construction work in the highlands.
