Samruk Energy invests in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Shulbinsk HPPs
The head of the East Kazakhstan region Yermek Kosherbayev met with the management of Samruk Energy JSC on the implementation of a number of projects in the field of electric power industry.
In particular, the parties discussed the issue of modernization of the hydroelectric unit No. 4 of the Ust-Kamenogorsk HPP, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027. At this stage, contracts have been signed for the development of design estimates and the supply of a hydro generator and other equipment. This project will increase the capacity of the HPP by 12.2 MW and reduce water consumption through the unit.
In addition, the issue of construction of the second stage of the Shulba HPP was raised, which will increase its capacity by 348 MW. The consortium of the Institute of Hydroproject and the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Resources will be engaged in the development of a feasibility study for this project. The preliminary cost is 450 billion tenge.
Also during the meeting they touched upon the construction of a new thermal power plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk and other issues related to the region’s electricity supply, SOZmedia reports.
