Kyrgyzstan invites Turkic countries to the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP project

Kyrgyzstan invited the countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to participate in the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric power station (HPP). This was stated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov during the 11th Summit of the Heads of state of the TG in Bishkek.

“Today, Kyrgyzstan is taking measures at the national level and in cooperation with Central Asian countries to ensure energy security and improve energy efficiency. Work is underway on the construction of about 50 small and medium-sized HPPs. Agreements have been reached on the joint construction of the largest hydroelectric power station “Kambar-Ata-1″ together with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Taking this opportunity, I invite you to take part in the implementation of this large—scale project,” said Japarov.

According to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Central Asia is one of the regions rich in natural energy resources.

“In Kyrgyzstan, electricity production is carried out at the expense of renewable hydro resources and large hydroelectric power plants. Our country also has significant opportunities for the production of solar, wind energy and “green” hydrogen,” he said.

It should be noted that the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP is scheduled to begin in 2025, and the first hydroelectric unit will be commissioned in 2028. The preliminary cost of the project is from 4.5 to 5 billion US dollars, the capacity of the station is 1860 MW. It is expected that the HPP will produce 5.6 billion kWh of electricity per year, Trend reports.
