Kyrgyzstan has completed the construction of the CASA-1000 infrastructure project

The construction of energy infrastructure facilities of the CASA-1000 project has been completed in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan OJSC (NES) reports.

“Kyrgyzstan has completed the construction of energy infrastructure facilities within the framework of the CASA-1000 international project aimed at creating the largest trans-regional power transmission line connecting Central and South Asia. Four countries are involved in the project: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan,” the message says.

The General Director of NESK Altynbek Rysbekov noted that as part of the CASA-1000 project in Kyrgyzstan, the construction of a cell at the Datka substation has been completed, 1,243 supports have been installed and the suspension of wires with a length of 456.06 km has been completed.

“This project is aimed at exporting electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan. It not only promotes energy integration between Central and South Asia, but also opens up new economic opportunities for our country,” he said.

It is noted that under the CASA-1000 project, electricity will be exported in the summer, when there is an excess of its production in Kyrgyzstan. This will maximize the use of available resources and stabilize the domestic market.

At the same time, recently the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Chyngyz Aidarbekov mentioned that under the CASA-1000 project Kyrgyzstan signed a commitment of 5 billion kW.h to supply 30% to Pakistan and Tajikistan. “And today we are unable to deliver even 30%,” Chyngyz Aidarbekov added.
