RKDF will allocate money for the construction of a small HPP on the Shamshy River

The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) has signed an agreement on financing a project for the construction of a small hydroelectric power station on the Shamshy River in the Chui region. The press service of the Fund notes that this project, implemented by Grand Magnate LLC, is aimed at improving the energy security of Kyrgyzstan.

The new HPP “Shamshy” with a capacity of 1.7 MW will provide additional generation of 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. This will cover 10 percent of the needs of the Chui district. The station is scheduled to be launched in 2026.

“The construction of this HPP is an important step towards the development of the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan. I am sure that the project will be successful and will bring great benefits to both the region and Kyrgyzstan as a whole,” said Artyom Novikov, Chairman of the RKDF Board.

He stressed that in the last 3.5 years alone, the RKDF has started implementing 16 projects in the field of hydropower throughout the republic. The facilities will generate about 700 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which will significantly reduce the existing energy deficit in the country.

The construction of Shamshy HPP will help attract investment to the region and develop industrial potential. The project will create jobs, which will have a positive impact on the living standards of the local population, and will provide annual payments to the budgetary and extra-budgetary funds of Kyrgyzstan in the amount of more than 2.5 million soms, the press service of the RKDF notes.
