A feasibility study will be prepared for the cascade of Kazarmansky HPPs on the Naryn River

The Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic (KR) Taalaibek Ibraev held a meeting with the General Director of JSC “Central Asian Investment Holding” Oren Ahmet Mujahid. The main topic of discussion was the prospects for cooperation in the framework of the construction project of the Kazarmansky cascade of the hydroelectric power station on the Naryn River, the total capacity of which will be 912 MW. The cascade includes four hydroelectric power stations, and Central Asian Investment Holding OJSC has expressed interest in building three of them: Ala-Buginskaya HPP (600 MW), Kara-Bulungskaya-1 HPP (149 MW) and Kara-Bulungskaya-2 HPP (163 MW). It is expected that the average annual electricity generation by these stations will amount to 3746.3 million kWh.

The implementation of this project is of strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan, as it will significantly increase electricity production, provide the population and enterprises with stable energy supply, as well as create new jobs and increase tax revenues to the state budget, the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan notes.

Cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and OJSC Central Asian Investment Holding has been going on for two years. Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding on the joint implementation of an energy project was signed, followed by a Framework agreement on the construction and operation of hydropower plants. The company has already opened an office in Bishkek for closer cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and transferred 11 million soms to the treasury for the construction of a cascade of HPPs.

During the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol of Intent, the purpose of which is to develop an investment agreement, the necessary documentation and feasibility study (feasibility study) of the construction project of the Kazarmansky cascade HPP.

It should be recalled that at the Issyk-Kul 2024 International Economic Forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the search for an investor for the implementation of the project for the construction of the Kazarmansky cascade of the HPP between the National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chinese company Huahe International.
