Toktogul HPP began to generate less electricity
In Kyrgyzstan, at the Toktogul HPP, a key facility of the country’s energy infrastructure, work has been launched on the reconstruction of hydroelectric unit No. 3. This process, according to JSC “National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan”, inevitably leads to a temporary decrease in the volume of electricity generation in the republic. At the moment, only three of the four hydroelectric units of the station are functioning, which creates an additional burden on the power system and increases the risks of a shortage of electricity.
In the current conditions, power engineers appeal to the population and all electricity consumers with an urgent request to show maximum savings in the use of electricity. Rational consumption of energy resources during the repair work will minimize the risks of power outages and ensure the stable functioning of the country’s energy system. This is especially important in the context of the growing human impact on the environment, when every kilowatt-hour is important not only for the economy, but also for the environment.
It is expected that upon completion of the reconstruction of hydroelectric unit No. 3, the capacity of Toktogul HPP will increase by 60 megawatts. Thus, the total capacity of the station will reach 1,440 megawatts.
