Because of the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex, Pervomaisky beach in Omsk will go under water.

The improvement of Pervomaisky beach on the Irtysh River, which is located on the territory of the Green Island Park in Omsk, may be hindered by the launch of the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex under construction. This was announced by the director of the park “Around the World” Daria Tolmacheva at a press conference on the future of the park “Green Island”.

She said that the essence of the idea is to create a beach with pools located on it, in which you can swim. However, last year’s increase in the water level led to the fact that this area went under water.

“But here the question is no longer in natural disasters, but in raising the water level when the hydroelectric facility is opened. We all know that it is being built. There are plans to raise the water level — for this it is being created. We have already started working on the issue with the Ministry of Nature about what is expected in general and what our new reality will be in terms of water level after the opening [of the waterworks]. If what we saw last year will be the norm now, then two—thirds of the “Green Island” goes into the water,” said Daria Tolmacheva.

Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex is one of the largest long-term construction projects in the Omsk region, along with Omsk-Fedorovka airport and the metro. In 2011, the Mostovik company began to build it. The cost of construction was estimated at 8.4 billion rubles. In three years, the left-bank part of the waterworks was completed by 53%. However, in 2014, Mostovik became bankrupt. Construction was suspended, but later it was resumed by Mezhregionstroy.

Recently it was reported that the launch date of the first stage of the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric power plant was postponed. The deadline for the first stage of work has been extended until November 1, 2026 due to the partial transfer of federal funding to 2026.

According to Daria Tolmacheva, now the issue of the prospect of raising the water level in the Irtysh needs to be worked out. So far, there is an idea of beautifying Pervomaisky Beach, but its implementation will not depend on Omsk Siding Invest, which took the Green Island concession for 25 years.
