Rosatom proposed to build a small dam at the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex
Rosatom Service, at the suggestion of the designer of the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex, which is being built near Omsk, is considering the possibility of installing a small hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of up to 8 MW at the facility. This was told by the deputy general director of the company Vladimir Bredov the other day of the state corporation “Rosatom” in the Omsk region.
Krasnogorsk water-lifting hydroelectric plant is being built near the village of Krasnaya Gorka in the Omsk region. The need for a dam arose due to a decrease in the water level in the Irtysh due to the large weaning of water in Kazakhstan and China. Completion of the first stage is scheduled for 2026. The project does not envisage the construction of a dam.
“The designer who designed the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex proposed to design a small dam in it. The output will be about 7-8 MW. This capacity will make it possible to take part in the PDM competition (power supply agreement), therefore, this is an investment of the federal budget,” Bredov said at the Infrastructure session.
According to him, three options for installing dams are being considered, one of which is the construction of capsule hydroelectric units, which will be installed in the spans of the right-bank spillway dam. The design will allow them to be lifted during the ice drift. “If we find a common language with your government, we can act as an investor, co-investor or just an equipment supplier. We already have similar turbines,” the company representative stressed.
As noted by the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Omsk region Rustam Mingazov, Rosatom is a key partner for the Omsk region. “We have already implemented many projects, we are actively supplying the products of our industrial enterprises to the state corporation. But there are potential projects where we can be useful to each other — this is what is being discussed at today’s event,” he stressed.
