Two residents of Uzbekistan were fined for a fake about cracks in the dam
Two residents of Ishtykhan district of Samarkand region of the Republic of Uzbekistan were fined for spreading false information. They posted a video on social networks, where it was claimed that cracks appeared in the Akdarya reservoir dam and there is a risk of flooding due to water leaving the dam, the correspondent of the publication reports. According to the court’s materials, the video was shot on January 10. On this day, a 36-year-old man captured repair work on the southwestern shore of the reservoir. In the evening of the same day, he, along with another local resident, distributed a record on social networks, accompanying it with false information that could cause panic among the population.
Ishtykhansky district court on January 13 considered the case against two citizens. According to the court’s decision, they were found guilty under article 202-2 (“Dissemination of false information, including in the media, telecommunications networks or the worldwide Internet information network, containing a threat to public order or security”) KoAO RUz.
As punishment, the court imposed a fine of 20 BRV to the violators, which is 7.5 million soums.
