The first stage of the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex on the Irtysh is 45% ready
The Governor of the Omsk region Vitaly Khotsenko discussed with the head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources Dmitry Kirillov the construction of the Krasnogorsk water-lifting hydroelectric complex on the transboundary Irtysh. According to the head of the region in his telegram channel, work at the facility is being carried out around the clock: more than 200 specialists and 35 pieces of equipment are involved. According to Khotsenko, the readiness of the first stage is about 45%.
The waterworks, located near the village of Krasnaya Gorka, has been under construction since 2011. Its construction is necessary to stabilize the level of the Irtysh, which has decreased due to active water intake in Kazakhstan and China. According to the plan, the first stage was to be completed in 2025, and the commissioning of the waterworks was scheduled for 2028.
The implementation of the project, according to the governor, will improve the water supply of Omsk and the urban agglomeration and create new opportunities for shipping.
However, the construction of the Krasnogorsk hydroelectric complex is facing problems: last year the facility’s readiness was only 20%, and this year the hydroelectric complex was at the center of a corruption scandal. In April, 47 hydraulic structures were put up for sale, most of which were purchased by the Moscow plant Gidromontazh. In addition, the Moscow Main Directorate of State Expertise gave a negative opinion on the projects of the first and second stages, and recently the government of the Omsk region announced a planned reduction in construction costs by 34.3 million rubles, Om1 Omsk reports.
