Kyrgyzstan launched four new hydropower plants by Independence Day

Four new small hydroelectric power plants have been commissioned in Kyrgyzstan. According to the Ministry of Energy, the launch of the facilities was timed to coincide with the celebration of the country’s Independence Day. Their total capacity was 23.25 megawatts.

The implementation of these projects is part of the state program for the development of renewable energy sources and strengthening the energy security of the republic. The agency’s plans for 2025 include the commissioning of another 18 small hydroelectric power plants across the country.

One of the new stations – Aksy HPP – is located in the village of Kyzyl-Kul, Jalal-Abad region. Its capacity is 4.75 megawatts, and the project cost is estimated at 6.5 million dollars, or 568 million soms. 15 jobs have been created at the facility.

In the Chui region, in the Issyk-Ata district, the Issyk-Ata HPP-2 started working. The capacity of this station reaches 4 megawatts. The construction cost amounted to 527.4 million soms. It is also planned to employ 15 people at the HPP.

Two more facilities were launched in Issyk-Kul region. The Boz-Uchuk hydroelectric power station in Ak-Sui district has a capacity of 5.5 megawatts and provided five people with work. Investments in the project amounted to $ 5.7 million.

The second station in this region, the Koi–Suu hydroelectric power station, has become the most powerful of the four, its indicator is 9 megawatts. The project cost amounted to $ 8.5 million, four specialists will work at the station.

Together, the launch of four small hydropower plants has created about 40 new jobs in the regions.
