Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant Infrastructure Nears Completion

The construction of basic infrastructure for the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant is nearing completion in the Jalal-Abad region of the Kyrgyz Republic. Engineering networks are being built from scratch in the mountainous terrain along the Naryn River to facilitate the transfer of heavy construction equipment and prepare for the foundation work of the main dam.

Ensuring transport accessibility to the future hydro-hub is a primary focus of the current phase. Construction crews have largely finished the primary road connecting the site to the Bishkek–Osh highway. A 126-meter transport tunnel has been excavated through the rock massif and is fully operational for the safe transit of oversized vehicles. An additional access route leading directly from the second cut section to the future power plant alignment is also in an advanced state of readiness.

The road bridge over the Naryn River represents the most complex logistical structure of the project. Contractors have finished concreting the main supports and are currently installing the metal span structures. Once operational, this crossing will connect the two riverbanks and ensure an uninterrupted delivery cycle for heavy cargo to key construction zones, operating independently of seasonal water levels.

Autonomous life support systems for the site are being established simultaneously. A dedicated power transmission line and a 110-kilovolt step-down substation are nearing completion to supply electricity to construction cranes and drilling rigs. An independent shift camp designed to house engineers and workers is being constructed adjacent to the site, with the frameworks for both residential and administrative modules already assembled.

The conclusion of this preliminary phase will allow the primary construction work on the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant to begin. A definitive schedule for damming the Naryn River will be approved once all components of the transport network are fully commissioned.
