Seven hydroelectric power stations of Kyrgyzstan are waiting for a large-scale modernization

The Electric Stations Company announces the launch of a large-scale modernization and maintenance program for key hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in Kyrgyzstan. The annual plan approved by the company includes capital and routine repairs, as well as preventive maintenance at the seven largest hydroelectric power plants in the country.

The purpose of the package of measures is not only to update outdated equipment and increase the reliability of power supply, but also to ensure the uninterrupted operation of all stations. Major repairs of hydroelectric units, equipment modernization and preventive maintenance are planned at the Toktogul HPP. Major repairs will be carried out at Kurpsayskaya HPP, the control system will be updated and transformer equipment will be modernized. Tash-Kumyrskaya HPP will undergo maintenance and preventive maintenance. Comprehensive repairs will be carried out at the Shamaldy-Sayskaya HPP, critical components will be upgraded and regular diagnostics will be provided. From February to November 2025, the reconstruction of hydroelectric unit No. 3 will be carried out at the Uch-Kurgan HPP, which will increase the efficiency of the station. Kambar-Ata HPP-2 expects major repairs of key elements, and comprehensive maintenance and ongoing repairs will be carried out at the At-Bashinskaya HPP.

The Electric Stations company notes that the work schedule has been drawn up taking into account seasonal fluctuations in the load on the power system. In addition, the company plans to flush reservoirs to remove silt deposits, which will improve the efficiency of hydroelectric power plants.

These measures are designed to ensure stable and reliable energy supply to consumers in Kyrgyzstan, as well as lay the foundation for further development of the country’s energy sector.
